Bottom-ranked Mersin managed to get a second victory, breaking the six-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Bornova in Akdeniz 83-68. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference suggests that Mersin is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Bornova was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Mersin outrebounded Bornova 47-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alex Scales (192-78, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and guard Dionte Christmas (196, college: Temple) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Michael Roll (196-87, college: UCLA) with 19 points and forward Torin Francis (210-83, college: Notre Dame) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mersin (2-10) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Oyak Renault. Bornova lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Turk Telekom. Mersin will meet bottom-ranked Oyak Renault (#16) in the next round. Bornova will play against Turk Telekom (#10) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
