NKL top team - Pieno Zvaigzdes (21-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Erelita-KTU (6-17) in Kaunas 83-58. The game without a history. Pieno Zvaigzdes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Pieno Zvaigzdes forced 20 Erelita-KTU turnovers. It was a quality performance for forward Nerijus Varnelis (200-78) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Darrick Leonard (188-84, college: Aurora) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Five Pieno Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. Forward Karolis Pupinis (200-88) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Mindaugas Mackevicius (202-90) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Erelita-KTU in the defeat. Erelita-KTU's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Pieno Zvaigzdes have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-1 record. Loser Erelita-KTU dropped to the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Pieno Zvaigzdes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
