Regular Season Round 15: VICI Aistes - Laisve Kaunas 87-74

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: VICI Kaunas (#1) and Laisve (#4). VICI Kaunas (13-0) won against visiting Laisve (7-6) 87-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Laisve. The game was mostly controlled by VICI Kaunas. Laisve managed to win third quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VICI Kaunas outrebounded Laisve 43-32 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American center Amanda Kemezys (192-87, college: Saint Louis) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International guard Milda Sauliute (175-81) helped adding 13 points, 11 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was guard Mante Kvederaviciute (180-90) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Ligita Kinkeviciene (173-76) scored 9 points and 11 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. VICI Kaunas have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Laisve at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. VICI Kaunas are looking forward to face MRU (#5) in Vilnius in the next round. Laisve will play at home against Utena and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
