Regular Season Round 13: Spartak Pleven - Chernomorets 99-85

Bottom-ranked Spartak managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses on Saturday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Chernomorets in Pleven 99-85. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Spartak's preassure prevailed and they won that period 32-20 extending their advantage to 14 points. The former international swingman Hrisimir Dimitrov (197-74) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Alexander Diakovski (185-82) accounted for 24 points. Spartak's coach Tihomir Milev used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Simeon Naydenov (201-81, college: Louisville) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Assen Saraliyski (199-84) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Chernomorets in the defeat. Four Spartak and five Chernomorets players scored in double figures. Spartak (3-10) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Chernomorets. Chernomorets lost their sixth game in a row. Spartak will meet league's second-placed Levski in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chernomorets will play against Tundja (#6) in Yambol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
