The game in Torres Novas supposed to be quite interesting. Sixth ranked Alges (7-6) played at the court of 7th ranked CDTN (6-8). Alges smashed CDTN 65-27 on Sunday. The game without a history. Alges led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CDTN to just 2 points in fourth quarter and to 7 points in second half. Alges held CDTN to an opponent 20.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Alges outrebounded CDTN 56-26 including a 27-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Angelica Robinson (196-87, college: Georgia) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. The former international guard Ticha Penicheiro (180-74, college: ODU) chipped in 1 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Alges' coach Carlos Barroca felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Tamara Milovac (186-86) who recorded 8 points and 9 rebounds and guard Joana Claro (170-88) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Alges moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Olivais. Newly promoted CDTN keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Alges will meet GDESSA (#8) in the next round. CDTN will play against Quinta in Carcavelos and hope to secure a win.
