Regular Season Round 27: Khimik - BC Odessa 100-69

We should mention about the upset which took place in Yuzhny, where 9th ranked BC Odessa (11-14) was outleveled in a road game by twelfth ranked Khimik (7-18) 100-69 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 20-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-69. Khimik dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BC Odessa's 30. Khimik forced 20 BC Odessa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by BC Odessa's players. It was a great evening for the former international guard Sergei Popov (193-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points. Serbian guard Nemanja Protic (182-86) helped adding 13 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84) with 15 points and the former international swingman Artem Shvets (203-85) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimik moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Halychyna. BC Odessa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Khimik will meet at home Halychyna (#12) in the next round. BC Odessa will play against Halychyna in Lviv and hope to secure a win.
