Neptunas (#8) forced the game against Siauliai (#4) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 92-99 on Tuesday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-16. But Neptunas won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Neptunas used huge pressure winning it 26-21 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-15. Siauliai forced 22 Neptunas turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Neptunas' players. 28 personal fouls committed by Neptunas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Samoan guard Rashaun Broadus (183-84, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Ukrainian center Roman Gumenyuk (221-87) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Martynas Mazeika (190-85, agency: Limelight Hoops) added 18 points in the effort for Neptunas. Five Siauliai and four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Siauliai has a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-4 record. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
