No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Crailsheim Merlins (8-7) defeated on the road 11th ranked Science City Jena (6-9) 83-70 on Tuesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a great shooting night for Crailsheim Merlins especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Science City Jena was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Kameron Gray (186-82, college: Oklahoma City) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists. His fellow American import forward Reggie Fuller (198-86, college: Binghamton) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Christoph Roquette (203-82) who recorded 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American forward Adrian Hill (203-84, college: Rutgers) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Crailsheim Merlins. They maintain seventh place with 8-7 record. Loser Science City Jena dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Hannover Tigers (#9) in Hannover in the next round. Science City Jena will play at home against BG Karlsruhe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
