Very predictable result when second ranked Meresta (18-6) won against 14th ranked Erelita-KTU (6-18) in Pakruojis 70-54 on Friday. The game without a history. Meresta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Erelita-KTU to just 7 points in second quarter. Guard Simonas Slivka (194-86) nailed 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tomas Balciunas (186-79) accounted for 13 points. Four Meresta players scored in double figures. Power forward Rokas Cepanonis (207-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and forward Karolis Pupinis (200-88) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Erelita-KTU in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meresta maintains second place with 18-6 record having three points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Erelita-KTU lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Meresta will meet league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Erelita-KTU will have a break next round.
