Regular Season Round 25: Zalgiris-Sabonio - Perlas-MRU 88-85

Eighth-ranked Perlas-MRU (10-14) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (15-8) in Kaunas on Friday. Zalgiris-Sabonio managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Perlas-MRU. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mindaugas Kupsas (215-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Center Gediminas Zyle (209-88) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Laurynas Jacevicius (193-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists and forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Five Zalgiris-Sabonio and four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to fifth place. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio are looking forward to face higher ranked Radviliskis (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perlas-MRU will play against LKKA-Atletas (#4) in Kaunas and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
