LKL round 17 most interesting game took place in Siauliai (derby !!!) between Siauliai and Lietuvos Rytas. Fourth ranked Siauliai (8-4) got a very close home victory over second-ranked Lietuvos Rytas (10-2). Siauliai managed to escape with a 1-point win 96-95 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lietuvos Rytas. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 31-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Siauliai forced 19 Lietuvos Rytas turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Siauliai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. American center David Weaver (209-87, college: Wake Forest) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Darius Gvezdauskas (192-88) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. International guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88) responded with 24 points and Serbian-Montenegrin center Milko Bjelica (207-84, agency: Beo Basket) scored 14 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Five Siauliai and four Lietuvos Rytas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Siauliai have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 8-4 record. Defending champion Lietuvos Rytas keeps the second position with two games lost. Siauliai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lietuvos Rytas will play at home against Naglis-Adakris in Palanga and is hoping to win this game.
