Regular Season Round 16: Jena - Karlsruhe 78-80

Important game to mention about took place in Jena. Tenth ranked BG Karlsruhe (8-8) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 12th ranked Science City Jena (6-10) 80-78 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Science City Jena took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BG Karlsruhe had a 26-17 second period charge getting the lead and Science City Jena was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-80. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Rasmussen Services) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import guard Dwight Thorne (190-88, college: Colorado, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who added 23 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Melvin Hall (183-85, college: S.Indiana) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and power forward Christoph Roquette (203-82) scored 19 points. BG Karlsruhe moved-up to eighth place. Science City Jena lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. BG Karlsruhe will play against Hannover Tigers (#11) in Hannover in the next round. Science City Jena will play on the road against the league's leader Bayern Muenchen having rather not much hope for a victory.
