Regular Season Round 15: Erdemir - Tofas 81-80

A very interesting game took place in Erdemir. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Tofas (5-10) to fourteenth ranked Erdemir (4-11) 81-80 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Tofas took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Erdemir had a 24-22 second period charge getting the lead and Tofas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-81. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward James Thomas (203-80, college: Texas) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Court Side) accounted for 12 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Erdemir's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola (MD)) came up with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Austin Nichols (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) added 22 points respectively for Tofas in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Erdemir maintains fourteenth place with 4-11 record. Tofas at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Erdemir's next round opponent will be higher ranked Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
