Regular Season Round 16: Wulfen - SU Medien 83-68

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked BSV Wulfen (9-7) defeated at home 9th ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (6-10) 83-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BSV Wulfen. Spot Up Medien Baskets managed to win third quarter 29-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spot Up Medien Baskets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Joseph Henley (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Daniel Theis (205-92) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and guard Jusuf El Domiaty (189-90) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Spot Up Medien Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen maintains fifth position in Group North with 9-7 record. Loser Spot Up Medien Baskets dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. BSV Wulfen will face higher ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spot Up Medien Baskets will play against Bayer Giants (#10) in Leverkusen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
