Regular Season Round 16: Schwenningen - Ehingen 64-65

Tenth-ranked BV Villingen-Schwenningen (4-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (15-1) on Saturday. The visitors from Allmendingen managed to secure only one-point victory 65-64. However their fans expected much easier game. BV Villingen-Schwenningen was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ruben Spoden (202-89) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana) who added 7 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach Ralph Junge used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Blake Young (188-85, college: Kansas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Markus Hallgrimson (190-75, college: Montana St. - Billin) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Ehingen/Urspringschule maintains first position in Group South with 15-1 record. Newly promoted BV Villingen-Schwenningen dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Giessen and Dt.Bank SKY II. Ehingen/Urspringschule are looking forward to face BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. BV Villingen-Schwenningen will play against Giessen Pointers (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
