Sixth-ranked TSV Troester (7-9) gave a tough game to third ranked NBC (12-4) in Nurnberg on Saturday. NBC managed to secure only three-point victory 61-58. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-58. NBC outrebounded TSV Troester 40-22 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Ahmad Smith (194-84, college: St.Bonaventure) fired 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Desmond Yates (201-86, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four NBC players scored in double figures. NBC's coach Derrick Taylor allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Philipp Neumann (210-92) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Maurice Stuckey (187-90, agency: Pro One Sports) added 8 points respectively for lost side. NBC moved-up to second place in Group South, which they share with Licher Baeren. TSV Troester lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with BG Illertal. NBC will meet Licher Baeren (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. TSV Troester will play against Baskets Konstanz and hope to secure a win.
