Date: January 15, 2011
Telemach League top team - Zlatorog (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Polzela (6-5) 82-58. The game was mostly controlled by Zlatorog. Polzela managed to win third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Serbian forward Vladimir Panic (194-82) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Luka Lapornik (195-88) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Zlatorog players scored in double figures. Zlatorog's coach Ales Pipan felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Matej Venta (187-84) added 14 points in the effort for Polzela. Zlatorog has a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Polzela at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Sentjur. Zlatorog are looking forward to face Maribor Messer (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Polzela will play against Parklji in Bezigrad and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
