Regular Season Round 28: BC Odessa - Halychyna 76-69

Date: January 15, 2011
Rather expected game when 12th ranked Halychyna (7-20) lost on the road to ninth ranked BC Odessa (12-14) 76-69. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Stanislav Balashov (210-79) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84) who added 14 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Canadian center Scott Morrison (212-86, college: Portland St.) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Alan Wiggins (206-84, college: USF) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Halychyna players scored in double figures. BC Odessa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ferro-ZNTU. Halychyna lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 20 games lost. BC Odessa will play against league's second-placed BC Donetsk on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Halychyna will play against DniproAzot (#10) in Dniprodzerzhynsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
