Regular Season Round 11: Electrico FC - Maia Basket 75-80

There was a small surprise in Ponte de Sor where tenth ranked Maia Basket (3-8) defeated 7th ranked Electrico FC (4-7) 80-75 on Saturday. Electrico FC was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 18-15 charge of Maia Basket, which allowed them to win the game. Electrico FC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Joao Diamantino (201-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Andre Dara (180-83) helped adding 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Maia Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Tiago Brito (180-85) responded with 22 points and 4 assists and swingman Jorge Afonso (192-79) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Electrico FC's coach Andriy Melnychuk tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Maia Basket maintains tenth place with 3-8 record. Electrico FC lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Maia Basket will face league's second-placed Galitos FC in Barreiro in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
