Rather predictable result when third ranked Academik Plovdiv (7-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Cherno More U18 (4-6) 80-71 on Sunday. Cherno More U18 was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-11 charge of Academik Plovdiv, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 23 Cherno More U18 turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Academik Plovdiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Martin Horozov (200-86) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 21 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Dimitar Horozov (198-82) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Anton Dikov (191-94) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and forward Nikolay Stoyanov (195-94) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Cherno More U18's coach Galin Stoyanov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv maintains third place with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader Dunav 2007. Cherno More U18 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet at home Rilski 2 (#6) in the next round. Cherno More U18 will play against Academic Blagoevgrad and hope to secure a win.
