Regular Season Round 18: Svendborg - Aalborg 87-75

Very predictable result when second ranked Svendborg (15-2) won against at home bottom-ranked Aalborg (1-18) 87-75. It looked good early as Aalborg took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Svendborg had a 29-21 second period charge getting the lead and Aalborg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-87. They outrebounded Aalborg 38-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC, agency: Rasmussen Services) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Matt Williams (200-77, college: Montana) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Five Svendborg players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Barkley Falkner (203-86, college: Sam Houston St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Marquis Hall (183-87, college: Lehigh) added 25 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-2 record having just three points less than leader Bakken. Aalborg lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Svendborg's next round opponent will be SISU (#7) in Copenhagen where they are favorite. Aalborg will play on the road against Vaerlose and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
