Bottom-ranked Utena managed to get a second victory on Friday night. This time newly promoted Utena outleveled fifth-ranked MRU 93-74. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference suggests that Utena is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Utena's pressure prevailed and they won that period 32-17 extending their advantage to 19 points. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Utena especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Utena made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was power forward Kristina Palaimaite (191-81, college: Liberty) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Agne Ziegyte (175-86) chipped in 25 points. Five Utena players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Inga Aleksaite (193-89) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Sarune Povilionyte (182-88) added 17 points respectively. Newly promoted Utena maintains seventh position with 2-14 record. Loser MRU keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Utena will meet at home league's leader VICI Kaunas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. MRU will have a break next round.
