An interesting game took place in Paderborn where 6th ranked GiroLive-Ballers (10-6) were upseton the court of ninth ranked Webmoebel Baskets (8-9) 93-86 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-86. Webmoebel Baskets made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Strangely GiroLive-Ballers outrebounded Webmoebel Baskets 40-27 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. GiroLive-Ballers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St.) stepped up and scored 29 points and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import forward Trey Hampton (201-87, college: Georgia St.) chipped in 14 points. Forward Tom Spoeler (206-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four GiroLive-Ballers players scored in double figures. Webmoebel Baskets maintains ninth place with 8-9 record. Loser GiroLive-Ballers dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Webmoebel Baskets will face USC Freiburg (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. GiroLive-Ballers will play against Science City Jena (#12).
