Undefeated leader Lukoil Academik delivered the sixteenth consecutive win on Friday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Spartak (3-13) 101-84 in Sofia. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-84. Lukoil Academik outrebounded Spartak 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Brandon Heath (193-84, college: San Diego St.) who scored 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international center Tencho Banev (209-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Lukoil Academik players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Hrisimir Dimitrov (197-74) who recorded 29 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Aleksandar Dyakovski (185-82) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. Spartak's coach Tihomir Milev rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lukoil Academik (16-0) have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 16 victories in a row. Spartak lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. They share it with Chernomorets. Lukoil Academik's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Levski.
