There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Izmir B.B. (1-13) defeated at home higher ranked Final Genclik (7-7) 94-86 on Saturday. Izmir B.B. forced 26 Final Genclik turnovers. Final Genclik was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Omur Gokcepinar (196-80) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Omay Yildirim chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Costa Rican center Hernold Gardener (205-82, college: Lon Morris JC) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Sayit Ay (185-80) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Izmir B.B. and four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Izmir B.B. maintains twelfth position in Group A with 1-13 record. Loser Final Genclik keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Izmir B.B. will face higher ranked Orman Genc (#3) in Ankara in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
