Regular Season Round 13: Galatasaray - Mersin 53-50

Ninth-ranked Mersin (5-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked Galatasaray (12-1) in Istanbul on Saturday. Galatasaray managed to secure only three-point victory 53-50. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 53-50. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American forward Melisa Can (188-84, college: Rutgers) chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina, agency: 540 Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import guard Constance Jinks (170-81, college: UNLV) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Galatasaray have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Mersin at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Ceyhan Bld. Galatasaray is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Burhaniye Bld (#12) in Balikesir in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mersin will play at home against Alanya BLD (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
