Regular Season Round 17: Osnabrueck - Heidelberg 101-72

Date: January 23, 2011
Rather predictable result in Osnabrueck where sixth ranked GiroLive-Ballers (10-6) smashed 10th ranked USC Heidelberg (7-10) 101-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by GiroLive-Ballers. USC Heidelberg managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GiroLive-Ballers shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by USC Heidelberg's players. Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and American guard Timothy Burnette (188-82, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in 8 points and 11 assists. GiroLive-Ballers' coach Thorsten Leibenath felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Oliver Komarek (210-86) responded with 19 points and the former international power forward Bjorn Schoo (213-81, college: Northern St., agency: Court Side) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GiroLive-Ballers moved-up to fifth place. Loser USC Heidelberg keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. GiroLive-Ballers will face Science City Jena (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. USC Heidelberg will play against Cuxhaven BasCats.
