A very interesting game took place in Angra. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Barreirense (1-11) to eleventh ranked Lusitania (4-8) 78-75 on Sunday evening. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 28-18 Barreirense's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 78-75 at the end of the game. Lusitania made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American power forward James Robert (203-86, college: Dowling) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Daniel Monteiro (182-82) supported him with 20 points and 6 assists. Robert is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by American forward Tyrone Curnell (201-88, college: Valdosta St., agency: Strategic Sports) did not help to save the game for Barreirense. His fellow American import guard Garrison Johnson (196-88, college: Jackson St., agency: Strategic Sports) added 10 points. Barreirense's coach Arturo Alvarez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lusitania moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Illiabum and Penafiel. Barreirense lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Lusitania's next round opponent will be league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreirense will play against Ovarense (#5).
