The most shocking disappointment of round 17 in the ProA was a home defeat of 3rd placed Kirchheim Knights (11-6) by fourth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (12-5) who outscored them by 26 points 98-72 in the game for the third place. It ended the five-game winning streak of Kirchheim Knights. The game without a history. BV Chemnitz 99 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for BV Chemnitz 99 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American forward Terren Harbut (198-83, college: Ohio) stepped up and scored 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Marcus Smallwood (198-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: Court Side) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and naturalized Serbian guard Radivoj Tomasevic (180-78) scored 19 points. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. BV Chemnitz 99 have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Kirchheim Knights at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 are looking forward to face Crailsheim Merlins (#6) at home in the next round. Kirchheim Knights will play against the league's second-placed s Oliver Baskets in Wuerzburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
