Sportist Svoge (3-8) outlasted Balkan 2 (6-5) in overtime by two points 80-78 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Balkan 2. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Balkan 2 won fourth quarter 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Balkan 2 used huge pressure winning it 24-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-12. Sportist Svoge forced 19 Balkan 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 55-35 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sportist Svoge made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Georgi Kunov (205-92) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Dimitar Stanislavov (190-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ivaylo Vuchkov (200-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Nikolay Marinov (178-94) added 18 points, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sportist Svoge moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Chavdar. Newly promoted Balkan 2 dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with NSA. Sportist Svoge will meet higher ranked Cherno More U18 (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Balkan 2 will play against the league's leader Dunav 2007 (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
