We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (6-11) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners II (5-12) 86-76 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-76. American guard Ryan Staudacher (193-87, college: Montana) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) for the winners and guard Falko Theilig (180-92) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. American guard Jason Boucher (180-80, college: Grand Valley St.) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Dmitrj Kreis (185-88) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners II maintains ninth place in Group South with 5-12 record, which they share with Giessen. Newly promoted Oettinger Rockets Gotha keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners II will face league's leader Ehingen/Urspringschule in Allmendingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
