Regular Season Round 14: Fenerbahce - Samsun 85-67

TKBL top team - Fenerbahce (13-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Samsun (6-8) in Istanbul 85-67. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Samsun was better in second period 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Samsun's 36 and made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Samsun 40-22 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. International center Nevriye Yilmaz (195-80) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Latvian guard Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-83) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Fenerbahce's coach Laszlo Ratgeber allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Jessica Adair (193-86, college: George Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and international center Ceyda Kozluca (179-84) scored 21 points. Fenerbahce have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record, which they share with Galatasaray. Samsun at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Mersin. Fenerbahce will play against Istanbul Universitesi (#10) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Samsun will play at home against Tarsus Bld in Mersin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
