There was a minor upset in Bursa where 10th ranked Trabzonspor (7-10) was defeated by twelfth ranked Tofas (6-11) 78-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tofas. Trabzonspor managed to win fourth quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola (MD)) who scored 26 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import swingman Austin Nichols (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) chipped in 18 points. Tofas' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Nigerian forward Derrick Obasohan (199-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Tofas moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bornova. Newly promoted Trabzonspor keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Tofas will meet at home higher ranked Galatasaray (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trabzonspor will play against Oyak Renault (#16) in Bursa and hope to secure a win.
