Bottom-ranked Alytus Alita is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to second ranked Lietuvos Rytas (12-2) 94-52. The game was mostly controlled by Lietuvos Rytas. Alytus Alita was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alytus Alita to just 6 points in first quarter. Lietuvos Rytas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Alytus Alita's 32. They outrebounded Alytus Alita 48-29 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Jonas Valanciunas (210-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Khalid El-Amin (178-79, college: Connecticut, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 11 points. Coach Aleksandar Trifunovic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side the former international guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and guard Saulius Kazevicius (189-76) scored 12 points. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-2 record having just two points less than leader Zalgiris. Alytus Alita lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Lietuvos Rytas will play against Neptunas (#8) in Klaipeda in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Alytus Alita will play at home against Nevezis (#7) in Kedainiai and hopes to get finally their first victory.
