Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Pertevniyal and 8th ranked Darussafaka had identical 6-8 record. But Darussafaka was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 53-49 on Saturday night. It was a good game for forward Burak Yuksel (204-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Can Korkmaz (187-92, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 10 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Brandon Gordon (201-85, college: Alabama St., agency: EM-PA) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Sertac Sanli (209-91) added 7 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Darussafaka. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Pertevniyal (7-8) moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Final Genclik and Istanbul B.B. Darussafaka lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Pertevniyal will face Izmir B.B. (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena FMV Isikspor.
