Regular Season Round 17: Banvit BK - Besiktas 82-68

There was no surprise in Balikesir where 5th ranked Besiktas (10-7) was defeated by second ranked Banvit (14-3) 82-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit. Besiktas managed to win fourth quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Banvit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 73.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Baris Ermis (194-85) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. American-Azerbaijan forward Charles Davis (202-84, college: Alabama) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Cevher Ozer (206-83, agency: 1x1 Sports) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and Polish forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, college: Mississippi St., agency: Stanley International) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Besiktas' coach Ergin Ataman let to play ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Banvit maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader Fener.Ulker. Loser Besiktas keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Karsiyaka. Banvit will meet Olin Edirne (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Besiktas will play against Aliaga and hope to secure a win.
