Regular Season Round 18: Wulfen - MTV Wolfenbuettel 73-81

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (5-13) defeated on the road higher ranked BSV Wulfen (9-9) 81-73 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-14. But BSV Wulfen won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Justin Sexton (203-88, college: Pomona-Pitzer) scored 18 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Henje Knopke (193-85) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Joseph Henley (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and center Nino Janoschek (204-87) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four BSV Wulfen players scored in double figures. BSV Wulfen's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel maintains eleventh position in Group North with 5-13 record. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face higher ranked Bayer Giants (#10) in Leverkusen in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BSV Wulfen will play on the road against SC Rist Wedel (#9).
