No shocking result in a game when second ranked Galitos FC (10-2) defeated on the road 10th ranked Maia Basket (3-9) 69-61 on Saturday. Maia Basket trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 28-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-69 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Malcolm Thomas (196-85, college: Widener) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Michael Pilgrim (203-84, college: LSU-Shreveport, agency: KMG Sports Management) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Pilgrim is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Galitos FC players scored in double figures. Galitos FC's coach Jose Lopes used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Joao Diamantino (201-85) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Daniel Correia (174-84) scored 16 points. Galitos FC have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Barcelos. Loser Maia Basket keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Galitos FC will meet league's leader Barcelos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maia Basket will play against Seixal (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
