Date: January 29, 2011
Third ranked Lukoil blasted bottom-ranked Slavia (0-14) in Burgas 74-39 on Saturday evening. Slavia is still unable to win any game. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil. Slavia managed to win fourth quarter 12-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Slavia to just 7 points in first and third quarters. Lukoil dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Slavia's 24. Lukoil forced 20 Slavia turnovers. American forward DeTrina White (180-80, college: LSU, agency: Merit Sports) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Tamara Bowie (183-81, college: Ball St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. International center Aleksandra Delcheva (202-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and guard Vesela Kovacheva (170-92) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lukoil (10-4) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion (10-4) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Montana 2003 and Dunav. Loser Slavia still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Lukoil will meet Levski (#4) in the next round. Slavia will play against Beroe 07 in Stara Zagora and hopes to get finally their first victory.
