Eighteenth-ranked Gloria Giants (3-17) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (15-5) in Duesseldorf on Saturday. The visitors from Frankfurt managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. American guard DaShaun Wood (185-85, college: Wright St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 assists. The other American import guard Quantez Robertson (190-84, college: Auburn) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Robertson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. American guard DeAndre Haynes (187-84, college: Kent St.) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian forward Ransford Brempong (203-81, college: W.Carolina) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Gloria Giants. Deutsche Bank Skyliners have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record having six points less than leader Brose Baskets. Gloria Giants at the other side stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners are looking forward to face league's leader Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gloria Giants will play on the road against New Yorker Phantoms (#4) in Braunschweig and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
