Regular Season Round 19: Brasov - Otopeni 57-76

Date: January 30, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Brasov (1-18) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Otopeni (10-9) 76-57. It looked good early as Brasov took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Otopeni had a 26-20 second period charge getting the lead and Brasov was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 57-76. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brasov to just 7 points in fourth quarter. American forward Cortney Scott (196-82, college: Oakland) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Brian Burell (191-84, college: UTPA) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Otopeni players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Zeljko Bubanja (210-73) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and guard Mihai Popa (186-79) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Brasov's coach Milorad Perovic tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Otopeni moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Pitesti. Brasov lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Otopeni's next round opponent will be Timisoara (#12) at home. Brasov will play against CSM Bucuresti.
