No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Licher Baeren (13-5) won against on the road 12th ranked Baskets Konstanz (3-15) 74-65 on Sunday. Baskets Konstanz was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Baskets Konstanz outrebounded Licher Baeren 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Willis Gardner (185-86, college: Colorado St., agency: Stanley International) scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Thomas Fairley (206-82, college: Lamar) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Michael Lay (175-83, college: Concordia (OR)) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Robinson Louisme (201-84, college: Tulane) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Licher Baeren moved-up to second place in Group South, which they share with NBC and Leitershofen. Baskets Konstanz lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Licher Baeren will face TSV Troester (#6) in Breitenguessbach in the next round. Baskets Konstanz will play on the road against Leitershofen (#3) in Diedorf.
