The game between second ranked Meresta (20-9) and seventh ranked Nafta Universitetas (17-12) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Meresta was defeated by Nafta Universitetas in a tough game in Pakruojis 73-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Meresta. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Meresta won third quarter 22-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nafta Universitetas made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Nafta Universitetas outrebounded Meresta 51-25 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Meresta helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Julius Kazakauskas (197-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Nafta Universitetas players scored in double figures. Guard Tomas Balciunas (186-79) answered with 9 points and 6 assists and guard Liudas Radavicius (188-88) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Meresta. Nafta Universitetas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zalgiris-Sabonio and LKKA-Atletas. Meresta at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Radviliskis. Nafta Universitetas is looking forward to face league's second-placed Radviliskis at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meresta will play against Perlas-MRU in Vilnius and is hoping to win this game.
