Regular Season Round 15: Beroe - Slavia 91-38

Bottom-ranked Slavia is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 15th consecutive match to fifth ranked Beroe 07 (5-10) 91-38 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Beroe 07 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Slavia to just 6 points in second quarter. Beroe 07 dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Slavia's 24 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Slavia only scored two points from the stripe. Beroe 07 forced 24 Slavia turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Slavia's players. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) who led the winners and scored 31 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all thirteen shots !!!). Forward Nadezhda Spasova (189-93) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Zornitsa Naydenova (172-89) came up with 11 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ivana Shikileva (179-92) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Slavia in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Beroe 07 maintains fifth place with 5-10 record. Loser Slavia still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Beroe 07 will meet higher ranked Lukoil (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slavia will play against the league's leader Montana 2003 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
