Very expected game when 15th ranked Brasov (1-19) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked CSM Bucuresti (11-8) 92-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by CSM Bucuresti. Brasov managed to win third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for CSM Bucuresti especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Branislav Tomic (205-80) who scored 20 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 17 points. Four CSM Bucuresti players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Zeljko Bubanja (210-73) produced 34 points (!!!) and swingman Radu Paliciuc (198-88) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSM Bucuresti maintains seventh position with 11-8 record. Brasov lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Miercurea. CSM Bucuresti will meet Timisoara (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Brasov will play against Politehnica Iasi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
