Regular Season Round 16: Istanbul B.B. - Final Genclik 63-64

The most interesting game of round 16 was only one-point a home defeat of 8th ranked Istanbul B.B. (7-9) to sixth ranked Final Genclik (8-8) 64-63. Worth to mention a great performance of Costa Rican center Hernold Gardener (205-82, college: Lon Morris JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and guard Sayit Ay (185-80) who added 10 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) responded with 9 points and 15 rebounds and Recep Dogrusoz (-86) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Final Genclik maintains sixth position in Group A with 8-8 record, which they share with Pertevniyal. Istanbul B.B. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Darussafaka. Final Genclik is looking forward to face league's leader Genc Banvit in Balikesir in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Istanbul B.B. will play on the road against Orman Genc (#4) in Ankara and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
