Regular Season Round 32: Perlas-MRU - Meresta 87-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Meresta (20-10) against eighth ranked Perlas-MRU (15-15) on Saturday night. Visiting Meresta was defeated by Perlas-MRU in Vilnius 87-77. It looked good early as Meresta took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perlas-MRU had a 24-16 second period charge getting the lead and Meresta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-87. They outrebounded Meresta 43-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Meresta was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and guard Paulius Semaska (179-93) supported him with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 25 points and 6 assists by guard Saulius Raziulis (183-76, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Meresta. Guard Simonas Slivka (194-86) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Four Perlas-MRU and five Meresta players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU maintains eighth position with 15-15 record. Meresta at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. Perlas-MRU will play against league's second-placed Radviliskis on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Meresta will play against the league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes and will have a slim chance for a victory.
