Very important is a road loss of second ranked s Oliver Baskets (15-4) against seventh ranked Crailsheim Merlins (11-8) on Saturday night. Visiting s Oliver Baskets were defeated by Crailsheim Merlins in Crailsheim 68-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of s Oliver Baskets. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Crailsheim Merlins dominated on the defensive end, holding s Oliver Baskets to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded s Oliver Baskets 40-25 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. s Oliver Baskets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Kameron Gray (186-82, college: Oklahoma City) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his sixteen free throws !!!). Naturalized Congolese forward Blanchard Obiango (202-88) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side British-Australian guard Lee Jeka (187-83, agency: Promotex) responded with 17 points and American power forward Ivan Elliott (203-86, college: UCSB, agency: Limelight Hoops) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kirchheim. Newly promoted s Oliver Baskets keep the second position with four games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will play against ETB Wohnbau (#14) in Essen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. s Oliver Baskets will play at home against BG Karlsruhe (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
