Rather expected game in Coimbra where 5th ranked Ovarense (7-7) was defeated by third ranked Academica (10-4) 89-80 on Saturday. The game without a history. Academica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Academica outrebounded Ovarense 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Matthew Shaw (201-86, college: S.Illinois) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Diogo Simoes (178-80) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists. American guard JR Bradford Spencer (193-84, college: Jacksonville St., agency: JEMsports) produced 20 points and the former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests.
