Zalgiris-Sabonio (18-12) outlasted Mazeikiai (19-11) in overtime by six points 101-95 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 23-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-10. Zalgiris-Sabonio outrebounded Mazeikiai 41-29 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mindaugas Kupsas (215-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and forward Tauras Jogela (200-93) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Vilius Kazlauskas (185-91) responded with 19 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and swingman Marijus Norkus (197-85) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to fifth place. Mazeikiai at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena LKKA-Atletas.
